BonaServes: Making Volunteering Fun!

Volunteering can be great fun, but all too many people think it is not for them or that they are too busy to help. This might be because they have never done it, or because they do not know where to start. BonaServes aims to end this problem by creating a place to find where to volunteer around campus and around the town plus a place to find out more about volunteering both locally (St. Bonaventure University) and globally.

Financial Donations - - CFO.com

Financial Donations - - CFO.com:
"CFOs can manage to volunteer their skills to charities alongside their day jobs. In some cases, the results can be career-altering.

In Return
One way for-profit CFOs can enter nonprofits is via non-executive directorships. Mark Freebairn, head of the CFO practice at search firm Odgers Ray & Berndtson in London, says there's a growing interest in not-forprofit directorships, particularly among CFOs who are reaching the end of their finance careers. For CFOs pondering such directorships, he counsels that there is the same need for due diligence at nonprofits as at for-profits. 'You should have a strong finance director, with a solid process in place to guarantee the integrity of the information you're receiving,' he says. 'And you need passion for the cause of the nonprofit.'"

Do a good deed for 9/11

From myGoodDeed.org:
"Would you be willing to perform just one good deed on the 5th anniversary of 9/11 in memory of those we've lost to terrorism? If yes, then please post your good deed pledge today and join Americans everywhere who will be honoring the victims, heroes and volunteers of 9/11 by taking time to help others in need. It's confidential and free, and you decide for yourself what your good deed will be -- any act of kindness, charity or service counts!"

Without giving too much away, maybe 9/16 is close enough ;)

stay tuned.

Nice idea!

From the Austin Statesman:
"The young men of Pi Kappa Phi, students from schools all over the country, moved heavy rocks in a swelter Saturday to make the Shoal Creek hike-and-bike trail more accessible to people with disabilities. They are a Build America team, a subsidiary program of Push America, established by the national fraternity in 1977. Push America is a Pi Kappa Phi fraternity bike sojourn across the country for charity"
