Clean up around SBU
This is an email I got today:
Please note the fourth paragraph below. There is a need for SBU people to help clean up the River Trail, particularly behind SBU.
Hi, folks,
Here are the plans, so far: Home Depot and Wal-Mart are cleaning up
Constitution Ave. on Thurs., April 20th. WalMart would like to donate
flowers. Would anyone like to help plant them somewhere along the trail
(where they are allowed, of course)?
On Sat., the 22nd, Earth Day, First Free Methodist Church of Allegany is
picking up from State Street in Olean to Gargoyle. Deb Barylski and young
children are picking up from State to Washington (perhaps another mom and
younger kids would like to join her?) Julie Irving and Kim Sprague are
picking up from Washington to Constitution Avenue.
Folks from the Rehab Center will be helping out near the parking lot at St.
Bona's because that is where there is easiest access for parking - and this
might occur anytime between the 20th and the following week.
If you know anyone who might be interested, volunteers are still needed
behind Bona's to Gargoyle and from State Street to the parking lot by St.
Bonaventure. My contact at St. Bona's moved out of state, so if anyone
knows who might help, will you please forward this email and have them write
or call me at 375-4730, ext. 162 (w) or 372-6263 (h).
If the assigned days don't work, that is no problem - the important thing
will be having each section adopted and picked up. If you do want to change
the day and let me know, it would be helpful, as others might want to join
you.
Mr. Higgins usually cuts most of the brush along the trail by himself. If
you don't mind taking hedge clippers with you and cutting anything that
hangs over the trail to help him out, I'm sure it would be appreciated.
Thank you all for your help!
Kathy
